PEMF and pain is a combination of words most people in Australia are not familiar with even though PEMF, which stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields, is a natural therapy that has been widely practiced in Europe for years and now also in the USA and Canada to help relieve pain and a host of other chronic diseases.
According to Pain Australia, Australia’s leading pain advocacy body working to improve the quality of life of people living with pain, PAIN is the most common reason that people seek medical help. Currently, one in five Australians live with chronic pain! For those over the age of 65, it’s even worse when one in three people suffer from chronic pain on a daily basis!
You should NOT have daily pain just because you are over 50! Of course, you can experience the occasional aches and pains that come with aging — typically in your knees, hip, and feet. That's a natural process of aging due to wear and tear of our bones because they start to deteriorate over time, and joint spaces narrow, causing pain and stiffness.
You might perhaps occasionally experience a headache every now and then but I am not talking about those instances. Chronic pain is pain that exists every day for at least six months. And if you suffer such pain, you need to get a proper diagnosis first and then consider how PEMF and pain might work together to get some relief!
Being in my 70’s myself and still pain-free, I have created this special web page to share with you how I have been able to address pain over the years ever since I started suffering from lower back pain in my 40’s! How pain relief and back pain equate to PEMF and pain!
However, even though the ‘numbing and dumbing’ approach of prescription pain medications provided by the medical profession is a welcome relief of pain for many of us, it’s only a temporary band aid at best; at worst it creates side effects and addictions that harm the body and mind because it numbs the feelings (both good and bad) and shuts down, suppresses or ‘dumbs down’ the human body's innate intelligence and energy fields, something that's even more harmful for the over 65’s, because they found that older people on opioids, a class of pain drugs that includes morphine and codeine, had a higher risk of fractures, cardiovascular problems such as heart attack or stroke, hospitalizations, and death relative to other types of pain medication!
The combination of poor health outcomes, inappropriate prescriptions for pain and non-prescription and over prescription use of opioids (these are the pharmaceutical pain killers like the one of the most widely prescribed pain medications, oxycodone and hydrocodone) has resulted in a huge increase in opioid-related deaths now surpassing the national annual road toll here in Australia!
There are basically two mechanisms. There’s the signal that creates the sensation of pain, and then there are endorphins that relieve the pain. When part of the body is injured, special nerve endings send messages back to your brain. Pain-killing drugs known as opioids, interfere with these messages, either at the site of the injury, in the spinal cord or in the brain itself and a drug is any chemical you take that affects the way your body works. Alcohol, caffeine, aspirin and nicotine are all drugs and so are morphine, oxycodone, Percocet or Vicodin.
A drug must be able to pass from your body into your brain. Once inside your brain, drugs can change the messages your brain cells are sending to each other, and to the rest of your body. They do this by interfering with your brain's own chemical signals: the neurotransmitters that transfer signals across brain synapses.
Endorphins are the natural counterpart of opioids. Your body makes its own opiates; you don’t have to take morphine, oxycodone, Percocet or Vicodin because there are ways to naturally stimulate endorphins in your body. PEMF therapy is one of those ways, and there’s research to prove that!
Dr Oz called PEMF for Pain Relief as the biggest breakthrough in pain management he had ever seen on his show way back in 2011. Now, that’s quite a statement to make on TV but he did so with confidence because there are 10,000+ research studies including over 2,000 double-blind studies that demonstrate that PEMF therapy works including the one conducted by NASA!
That’s why this statement by Dr Oz was a timely one as most people are not aware of the pain reduction benefits of using PEMF therapy. It’s well-researched, well-established, and according to Bryant Meyers, an expert on PEMF therapy, pain relief is by far the number one reason why people invest in a PEMF therapy device and therefore a smart choice if you wish to address pain naturally rather than allopathically with pharmaceutical drugs and its many side effects, especially if you find yourself in the older age groups!
The beneficial effect of PEMF therapy lies in the fact that Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (PEMF) raise the pain stimulus threshold through hyperpolarization. The hyperpolarization effect of magnetic field therapy is a very important factor in controlling pain because the magnetic fields prevent excessive pain stimuli being relayed to the brain, which is equivalent to raising the pain threshold because pain conduction is interrupted for a brief period of time by these magnetic fields.
And because the stimulus threshold is raised, the pain must become much more intense to then to be perceived by the brain. By no means does this mean that the pain warning signal has been eliminated. Instead the chronic pain is relieved!
Also, PEMF therapy generates microcurrents to run through the neural pathways, which reduces the signal needed to create the feeling or sensation of pain. Less signal = Less pain perception. So, PEMF therapy not only helps to increase endorphins but it also directly decreases the triggering of the pain response.
I first heard about PEMF therapy through a friend from Austria in August of the year 2000. After perusing Dr Christian Thuile’s (M.D.) book ‘Practice of Magnetic Field Therapy’, which had been compiled from a review of more than 7,000 scientific publications and 200,000 patients who had participated in scientific studies investigating Magnetic Field therapy, I was ‘sold’ and immediately purchased the MRS 2000 PEMF device.
I have safely used my MRS 2000 for 18 years now and even though it is still in perfect working order, I recently purchased the latest iMRS Professional device to be able to treat and demonstrate the device to people who came to my home for treatment and at my public presentations and seminars.
From my experience, I believe the iMRS is still #1 in my opinion; it’s the one I use, and the one I’ve seen the best results with. I feel it’s the best researched, with the most testimonials and it’s SAFE and the one that’s most in alignment with nature!
